Bringing J&J Home
This is my family's experience, and yours may be very different. How it started, and what I found the day I walked in, is in Our Story. This is about what came after.
Torn away from everything they knew
J&J were happy to come home. But leaving meant they were torn away from everything they knew: their friends, their peers, and the people they trusted. Even after what I'd seen, it was the only home they had known for years. Taking them out was the right thing to do, but it wasn't painless for them. They lost their whole world in a day. For a long time afterward, they kept asking if they were really home.
The first things we had to do
Bringing them home was only the start. Everything had to be transferred: all of their services, insurance authorizations, and payee requirements. We had to set up new appointments, move their prescriptions, and keep up with doctor's appointments that were still pending. They had lived an hour's drive from us, so none of it could stay where it was.
My sister finished her breast cancer treatment at home with us. She still has many follow-up appointments to help keep it from coming back.
